Bloody Sunday witness afraid of inquiry 'whitewash'

A Derry man who claims he saw IRA gunmen on Bloody Sunday said he did not divulge the information to avoid taking away from the "cold-blooded murder" of the day, the inquiry heard today.

A Derry man who claims he saw IRA gunmen on Bloody Sunday said he did not divulge the information to avoid taking away from the "cold-blooded murder" of the day, the inquiry heard today.

Charles McGill added that he believed that the new probe into the events of January 30, 1972, is a whitewash to a certain extent.

He signed a statement saying that he saw men armed with rifles and nail bombs after the shootings only two days ago.
