Rescued man dies

The man rescued earlier this morning from the Old Head of Kinsale in Co Cork has died.

The man rescued earlier this morning from the Old Head of Kinsale in Co Cork has died.

The man was rescued in an early morning rescue operation involving coastguards, the Courtmacsherry lifeboat and the rescue helicopter based at Shannon Airport.

He was taken by helicopter to Cork University Hospital.

The man has not yet been named.
