O'Keeffe may resign

Speculation is mounting that Junior Minister Ned O’Keeffe is to resign or be sacked by the Taoiseach.

Speculation is mounting that Junior Minister Ned O’Keeffe is to resign or be sacked by the Taoiseach.

The Food Minister is to be investigated following his alleged breach of ethics legislation.

Minister O’Keeffe last year led the Government’s opposition to a Labour Party motion calling for a ban on the use of meat and bone meal feeds for farm animals.

Mr O’Keeffe did not reveal his family farm’s licence to produce these feeds at the time.

There are reports this morning that the Taoiseach has recommended that the Minister resign.

A spokesperson for Mr Ahern has confirmed that the issue will be dealt with today.
