A Belfast woman who has admitted helping her lover to kill his 48-year-old wife in 1999 has walked free from court in the North.
There was uproar in the Belfast court as Leanne Lynch was handed a probationary sentence of one year after she confessed to burning Len Smith's blood-spattered jacket and disposing of his wife June's mobile phone.
She had earlier admitted she knew they were vital items of evidence which could lead to her lover's conviction for murder.
The judge ruled that Lynch was a young woman who was besotted with Smith, a man twice her age. After sentence was passed, the victim's relatives shouted out in court that it was too lenient and justice had not been done.
