A Canadian man has been found guilty of shooting dead a three-year-old girl.

Craig Patrick has been sentenced to life with no chance of parole for at least 25 years for the 1999 Toronto shooting.

Breanna Davy died after she was shot in the head. Her father Warren Blackstock was also shot and is partially paralysed.

Breanna died instantly when the bullet pierced her skull. She had just been strapped into a car seat when the gun was fired.

Patrick had denied pulling the trigger and his mother ran from the courtroom shouting: "I say justice will prevail. I promise you my son will be free."
