Two explosions have rocked a Jewish neighbourhood of Jerusalem, leaving at least five people injured.
The blast was probably caused by a car bomb, said a Jerusalem police spokesman.
Witness Shimon Hagai said parts of the car flew up to the height of about four storeys. He said the explosions were 20 seconds apart.
Moshe Suissa, operations officer of the Jerusalem fire service, said a bystander standing near the car at the time of the blast was among the injured.
Earlier reports said at least 10 people had been hurt.
Islamic militant groups had been widely expected to stage attacks in Israel in response to the election victory of hard-liner Ariel Sharon this week.
