White House gunman charged with assault

The man shot by a Secret Service officer after allegedly waving a gun outside the White House has been charged with assaulting a federal officer.

The man shot by a Secret Service officer after allegedly waving a gun outside the White House has been charged with assaulting a federal officer.

Robert W Pickett faces up to 10 years in jail and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

He will remain in George Washington University Hospital over the weekend, and will go before magistrates next week.

Mr Pickett, 47, was said to be in good condition after being shot in the knee in the incident.
