The parents of eight-year-old Sarah Payne arrived at court this morning to face the man accused of her killing for the first time.
Sara and Michael Payne, together with the youngster’s grandparents, Terry and Elizabeth Payne, were greeted at Lewes Crown Court by a large number of reporters and cameramen.
Mr and Mrs Payne, who were both dressed smartly, paused for photographers before entering the courtroom.
Roy William Whiting, 42, formerly of St Augustine Road, Littlehampton, is due to appear before judge Richard Brown charged with kidnapping and murdering schoolgirl Sarah in July last year.
Whiting first appeared at Chichester Crown Court 12 days ago.
