The Ulster Unionist review group on decommissioning is due to report to a meeting of the party's officer board later today.

The review group, which was set up by the UUP's ruling council in October, is demanding immediate IRA decommissioning and said the political process cannot survive without it.

The officer board will now have to choose whether to put a proposal to tomorrow's meeting of the party's 100-member executive.

Leader David Trimble also has to decide whether to adopt a wait-and-see approach and risk allowing a full-scale crisis to develop.
