The four are charged with illegal possession of the three semi-automatic pistols and ammunition.

Sean Kind, aged 40, a painter from St Joseph's Terrace, Rockenham, Passage West,; Michael Nugent, aged 26, an unemployed doorman, of Meadow Park Lawn, Mitchelstown and Walter Nugent, aged 23, a student, of Avoncore Estate, Mill Road, Midleton, were all granted bail.

They must hand over their own bond of £600 and an independent surety of £9,000. However, Kevin Kiely, aged 24, a carpenter with an address at Mill Road in Youghal, was remanded in custody by Judge Michael Patwell.

Judge Patwell said he was not happy with the address provided after hearing evidence from the defendant's sister and mother.
