Paolo di Canio has spoken of the moment he psyched out Fabien Barthez in Manchester United's FA Cup defeat to West Ham.
The French goalkeeper tried to put off di Canio when Frederic Kanoute played the ball through.
Barthez thought the Italian striker was offside and raised one arm but di Canio ignored him and the Old Trafford crowd to score the winner.
"He tried to stop me. He tried to make my brain a little bit confused," said di Canio.
"But I have played 15 years at the top level and have a little bit of experience in these situations. I have more experience than some kids.
"It is better to score and then see whether the goalkeeper is right or wrong.
"I am very happy because we have not won at Old Trafford for 15 years. We had 10,000 fans supporting us and we have given them a dream day."
Di Canio reiterated his desire to see out his career in the east end of London.
"The only way I will leave West Ham is if the chairman or manager kick my ass away," he said.
"We can talk about other clubs, but I have to make the decision and I want to stay in England.
"I like the football and I like the atmosphere. I like the culture in England. Why would I want to leave?"
He believes the Hammers are on the right track and is delighted at the progress of English trio Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick.
"Joe Cole is one of the most talented players in England," said di Canio. "We have so much ability in midfield and attack.
"You have to meet Manchester United face to face. If you defend too deep they will destroy you. We tried to play our football, and it was a different story to our league defeat.
"I have to say thank you to all our defenders. Everybody was very strong."
Hammers' reward for their victory is a trip to high-flying Sunderland.
