The Special Criminal Court has been shown a further three letters written to State supergrass Russell Warren by John Gilligan.

In the second and third letters, which were sent together, Mr Gilligan told Mr Warren that he bore him no ill will, and that he did not have to leave Dublin.

In the final letter, which was smuggled into Arbour Hill prison three months ago, Mr Gilligan pleads with Mr Warren to "stop lying".

"We know they are Garda-made statements, I only need the truth to come out in court", it reads. "No harm done if no lies told. Keep to the truth, my life is in your hands".
