Two lifeboats have been scrambled in west Cork after a young man was washed into the sea.

Two lifeboats have been scrambled in west Cork after a young man was washed into the sea.

The man - belived to be about 19 or 20 - was swept away in the area around Spain village east of Baltimore in west Cork.

His friend raised the alarm at 7.45am by calling to a house in the area.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat and inshore lifeboat are currently carrying out a search of the coastline, and are being assisted by the coastguard helicopter.
