A 25-year-old man has died following a collision in county Limerick last night.

A 25-year-old man has died following a collision in county Limerick last night.

The single-car crash happened at Ballyphillip in Banogue just before midnight when the car the man was driving collided with a pole.

He was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post mortem will take place.

The road is currently closed while gardai carry out a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact Newcastle West garda station.
