Work has begun on a new wind energy project in Co Offaly, which will generate eco friendly electricity for 45,000 homes.

The €115m project will be one of the biggest wind farms in Ireland and Britain and is part of the new Bord na Móna Clean Energy Hub at Mountlucas.

One hundred and fifty construction jobs are being created by the development as well as 12 long term jobs when the farm becomes operational in 2014.
