Woman hospitalised after sand dune collapses

A teenage woman is being brought to hospital after a sand dune collapsed in West Kerry this afternoon.
The incident happened after 3pm on the back beach of the Maharees in west Kerry.
Two units of the fire brigade from Tralee, gardaí and two ambulances were called to the scene. Valentia Coastguard was also notified.
It is understood the girl, who is thought to be aged 19 and from Cork, had to be dug out of the sand and an ambulance is now taking the woman, who is being accompanied by a doctor, to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee.
Gardaí later said that her condition is serious.
