Woman dies in Mayo road accident
Mayo General Hospital.
A 39-year-old female pedestrian has died in a road crash in Co. Mayo.
Gardaí at Belmullet are investigating the collision, which happened at Glencastle, Co. Mayo at about 6.55am this morning.
The woman was walking along a minor road at Bunnahowen, Glencastle, when she was struck by a van.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body has been removed to Mayo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Forensic collision investigators are currently examining the scene, so the road is closed to traffic and diversions are in place.
