A pedestrian has died following a road collision in Co Galway.

Woman dies in Galway road accident

A pedestrian has died following a road collision in Co Galway.

The woman, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene just off the N17 at Aucloggeen, Claregalway, gardai said.

The accident happened at approximately 12.30am.

A second pedestrian, a man aged 24, was taken to University College Hospital Galway with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road is closed to facilitate Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
