A woman has died after being hit by an articulated truck close to Heuston Station in Dublin this afternoon, gardaí said.

A woman has died after being hit by an articulated truck close to Heuston Station in Dublin this afternoon, gardaí said.

The incident happened at approximately 4.20pm this afternoon.

The female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to the City Morgue.

The road into Heuston Station near Victoria Quay was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.

Gardaí appealed for witnesses to contact Kilmainham Garda Station on 01 6669700, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
