Woman dies after ambulance crash
18/10/2005 - 08:45:41A 27-year old woman who was struck by an ambulance has died in hospital, it emerged today.
Gloria Corrigan, from Oriel Park, Emyvale, Co Monaghan, had been travelling home in a taxi with friends when they stopped to help at the scene of a single car accident at 4.30am on Sunday.
She was struck by the ambulance that arrived at the scene at Hackballscross on the main Dundalk-to-Castleblaney road.
A man in his 60s was also injured in the accident, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Both of the injured were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.
A Garda spokesman said Ms Corrigan had died in hospital shortly before 7pm last night.
She had been returning from a night out organised by Emyvale GAA Club when the accident happened.
