Woman charged with assault in connection with Waterford death

A second person has been charged today in connection with the death of Joe O'Brien in Waterford City on Monday.

Michelle Hynes (aged 39), of no fixed abode, was charged with assault causing harm at a sitting of Waterford District Court this morning.

She was remanded in custody to appear before the court again next week.

No application for bail was made, however legal aid was granted.

Yesterday, Pat Keating (aged 47) with an address at Moyne House on Grattan Quay, Waterford, was charged with assault causing serious harm, under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He was remanded in custody to appear before the court again on May 1.

The body of 60-year-old Joe O'Brien was discovered at a ground floor apartment at Scotch Marsh House on Scotch Quay.

A post-mortem revealed he died as a result of injuries to the head.
