"Rainfall amounts of 40 to 70 mm over 24 hours are likely," the warning states.
The bad weather coincides with the traditional exodus for the Bank Holiday weekend.
The country's roads will be busy and the Road Safety Authority has warned motorists to take their time.
Tragically, 113 have lost their lives on our roads in 2014. This weekend drive safely and let’s make August a safer month on our roads
