John Larkin

Gardaí are appealing for help in tracing a man missing from his home in Cork since Saturday morning.

John Larkin, 31, was last seen by his girlfriend in his flat in Belgrave Place, Cork, at 2am on Saturday, hours after attending the 30th birthday party of two of his friends. .

John was last seen on CCTV footage outside Sheila’s Hostel at 2.35am. A gear bag can be seen hanging from his left shoulder.

He is 6′ in height, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a black-and-white checkered collar, blue jeans, size 11 brown Adidas shoes with a white stripe, and a black jacket.

John’s parents Helen and Billy, and brothers Thomas and David, have asked the public to help bring John home.

Dozens of his friends have described John as a hugely popular figure with a natural ability to make people laugh. He attended the joint 30th birthday party of his friends Seán Kelly and Mark Sheehy on Friday night.

Seán said: "John has that rare ability to have the whole room in stitches as he tells a story or a joke and is just great company to be around.

"Everyone is mad about him and we want him to know that. Even if we were to find out that he was safe, that would be enough for now. He comes from a great family and they need the help of the public to unlock the mystery. There is no anger or recrimination, we just want our loved one safe."
