Water protests in major cities today
Anti-water protests will take place across the country today.
Protesters will take to the streets of Dublin, Cork and Limerick among other areas- for a rally against water charges.
Today's protests, by the We Won't Pay Campaign, were originally organised to coincide with the deadline for the registration of water charges.
Despite the Government announcing a revised package of measures earlier this month and a extension of the registration deadline, organisers say today's protests will continue.
Today's protests will take place in a number of counties across Ireland - with the largest demonstration due to take place outside the Irish Water Headquarters on Talbot Street in Dublin from 2pm.
Meanwhile, the Green Party says water consumption dropped sharply in Dublin around October, when charges were initially due to come into effect.
It has obtained data from Irish Water, which shows that patterns of consumption have since returned to normal.
Green Party councillor Ciarán Cuffe says the initial drop in consumption was lost in the last two months, during a period of intense uncertainty about Government policy.
