Water meter delays expected

Some homeowners could be forced to pay a flat charge for water usage for two years from 2014 because water meters won't be installed on time.

The Sunday Times reports this morning that the government was warned by Irish Water that it will take more than three years to fit all homes with meters.

By 2015 it's expected that 500,000 will be installed which means the other 500,000 households will be without a meter and still paying a flat fee for water usage.
