The advertising standards watchdog has upheld a complaint against Supervalu after it emerged that a bottle of wine in a half price sale was only one cent cheaper than the regular price.
A customer complained that the half price wine sale was misleading after producing receipts from four months ago showing a particular wine advertised as half price at €8.49 had initially been sold at €8.50 and not €16.99 as advertised in the store.
The company said a mix-up had occurred between their Trading and Marketing Departments and apologised for the error.
The complaint is one of 13 investigated by the ASAI - 12 of which were upheld.
