Feisty pensioner Phil Summer got her way with the water meter installers this morning, when they begain installing in her estate Sundrive Park, Ballinlough.
“Half seven this morning I was woken by awful noise,” Phil said.
Phil said she didn’t want the water meter in so she got a small stool and sat outside with her cigarettes and a book.
She couldn’t get anyone to help her from the neighbourhood so she rang Neil Prendeville on RedFM and soon there was a crowd of people out to help her out.
“In a short time I had so many people out there, and they came in and said ‘Phil we are here to support you, if you don’t want that meter put in, you don’t need to have it put in’”
By the end of the morning, the water installers came back and they asked Phil did she want the hole filled up and she said she did.
“They said they won’t put in the water meter and I said ‘that’s fine,’” Phil said.
