Viable expolosive device made safe in Tipperary
An Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe a viable Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Roscrea in the early hours of this morning.
The Defence Forces deployed the team to an estate in the Grange area of Roscrea following a request from the gardaí.
The team arrived on scene at 02.45am and examined the device which was located near a vehicle.
The area had been cordoned off and some evacuation of residents was necessary for safety.
The viable IED was made safe by means of controlled explosion at thee scene, which was declared safe at 4.40am.
This is the 70th call out of an Army Bomb Disposal Team in 2012 and the 22nd viable IED made safe so far this year.
