Army bomb experts have defused an explosive device at a house in Tallaght in Dublin.

The item was placed inside the porch of a house in the Bawnlee area.

Neighbours were evacuated from nearby homes during the alert.

The army says the device was viable and could have caused serious injury or loss of life.
