Viable bomb device found in Dublin home

The bomb squad had to deal with a viable device at a home in Dublin overnight.

The alarm was raised at around midnight and bomb disposal experts arrived at the scene on Sperrin Road in Drimnagh at about 12.50pm.

A Defence Forces spokesman says it was a crude improvised device and they managed to dismantle it at the scene, without a controlled explosion.

The remains were handed over to gardaí for further investigations and the all clear was given at 2.30am this morning.
