The Transport Minister Leo Varadkar says he would fully support the non-payment of the next Anglo Irish Bank promissory note.
€3.1bn is due to be paid next March after this year's installment was deferred.
However the Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte said over the weekend that he doesn't think the Government will pay the IOU.
Minister Varadkar says the non payment of the Anglo promissory note has not been discussed at Cabinet level.
"That's not really my call. It's a matter for the Government and in particular the Minister for Finance. To put it this way, if the Minister for Finance came to Cabinet and propose we not pay it, not withstanding the risks surrounding that, he would have my full support."
