Unions 'divided' over cutbacks policy

There are reports today that a rift is developing between public sector unions about where the worst of the government cutbacks should hit.

Talks are continuing between Department of Finance and union officials on how to cut €1.3bn from the public sector pay bill on budget day next month.

According to today's Irish Independent, the leader of the 24/7 Frontline Alliance has written to ICTU chairman Peter McLoone outlining concerns about parts of the cuts - and his letter has so far gone unanswered.
