Unions and HSE to discuss latest cost-cutting plans
06/11/2008 - 08:30:56Trade union representatives are due to meet HSE officials today to discuss the agency's latest cost-cutting plans.
Reports this morning say a confidential document has revealed the HSE wants to introduce new restrictions on recruitment and to review the contracts of all temporary staff.
The agency is also looking to reform annual leave, sick leave and expenses arrangements for more than 100,000 health workers.
HSE managers will reportedly be banned from filling approved vacancies until all options, including redeployment and reassignment, have been examined.
