Union to meet IAA at Labour Court tomorrow

21/01/2010 - 13:37:33
The union representing air traffic controllers has agreed to meet the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) at the Labour Court tomorrow.

The move represents an apparent breakthrough in the dispute which yesterday saw a four-hour work stoppage by controllers ground flights at Irish airports.

In a statement the IMPACT union said that following interventions by the the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and IBEC, it has agreed to meet the IAA at the Labour Court at 11.30am tomorrow.

The statement, issued following an IMPACT meeting in Roscrea, Co Tipperary, means that any further industrial action is delayed, at least for the moment.

“It (the meeting) provides an opportunity to address all of the matters in dispute between both parties, including the issue of suspended staff, which IMPACT believes should be restored to the payroll as soon as possible,” they said.

In a statement the IAA said: "The Authority welcomes the Court’s invitation to meet with both parties for talks on all relevant issues."
