Two young men have died in crashes overnight.

In Donegal, a 21-year-old man was killed when the car he was a passenger in hit a bollard on the Buncrana to Burnfoot road at about 11.30pm last night.

Two other men - one aged 18 and the other 21 - who were in the car at the time, are being treated at Letterkenny hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile in Limerick, a pedestrian in his 20s died when he was hit by a van on the Croagh to Rathkeale Road at about 3.30am today.

A man in his 20s who was driving the van and a female passenger were uninjured in the incident.

Gardaí at Newcastlewest and Buncrana are appealing for witnesses.
