Gardaí are continuing to quiz two men following a fatal stabbing in Co Limerick.

House-to-house inquiries are being carried out after Thursday night's attack.

The 31-year-old victim was stabbed to death after he reportedly tried to intervene in an attack on a woman.

It happened at around 11pm on Thursday night at a house in the Grove area of Pallasgreen.

The 34-year-old woman also received stab wounds during the incident. She is being treated at Limerick University Hospital.

Two men - aged 20 and 32 - were arrested at the scene and remain in garda custody.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the attack to contact them.
