Two more weeks in custody for David Drumm, as hearing postponed

David Drumm's bail hearing set for today in Boston has been postponed until October 26.

Drumm's lawyer Tracy Miner said she needed more time to prepare his case amid attempts to extradite him home to Ireland to face charges relating to his time in charge of Anglo Irish Bank.

The 48-year-old former CEO has been accused of 33 criminal acts, including false reporting, giving unlawful financial assistance, forgery, being privy to the falsification of documents, and conspiracy to defraud dating from his time at the helm of the bank.

Reporter Joe Stohlman said there was not much surprise at the postponement.

"There doesn’t seem to be much surprise. The quick nature of his arrest and setting of the bail hearing (meant) it was probably to be expected that the defence would ask for more time to develop factual support for circumstances that would warrant a release," he said.

The delay means David Drumm will spend another two weeks in custody in prison.
