Two men have been arrested by gardaí investigating the serious assault of a 20-year-old man in Roscommon Town on August 30.
The injured man had sustained apparent stab wounds during the incident and was taken by ambulance to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe.
A man in his 40s was arrested in Ballinasloe by investigating Gardaí yesterday morning while a second man, also in his 40s, was arrested this morning in Athlone.
Both men are currently detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Roscommon Garda Station.
The injured man is continuing to recover.
Investigating Gardaí are continuing to appeal for information.
They are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the Castle Street area between to 10.30pm and 11.30pm on the night in question to come forward.
