Two separate investigations are underway following the death of a council worker in Douglas, Cork.

Two separate investigations are underway following the death of a council worker in Douglas, Cork.

Cork City Council and the Health and Safety Authority are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a man yesterday afternoon in the Cork suburb.

It is believed the man was hit by a pole which was knocked over as council work was being carried out.

The man was removed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital, where he later died.
