A double stabbing has occurred in the foyer of the Galway Courthouse this morning.

A double stabbing has occurred in the foyer of the Galway Courthouse this morning.

The incident occurred at around 11am.

It is reported that two men have been hospitalised at University Hospital Galway, where they are being monitored by Gardaí.

The Connacht Tribune reports that the stabbing occurred while sittings of District and Circuit court carried on a few metres away.

Gardaí ran from the courtrooms to the foyer to discover the two men had stabbed each other.

The injuries sustained by the two men are not thought to be life-threatening.

The men are under arrest, while in hospital and further arrests are expected.
