Two held after armed raid at pharmacy

Two men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Portmarnock, Co Dublin yesterday.

Two men believed to have been armed with handguns entered the premises at around 8.30pm last night when staff were closing up, gardaí said.

The culprits threatened two staff members and a scuffle ensued, with a staff member receiving minor injuries.

The culprits were described as both approximatley 5'10" in height. One was wearing grey balaclava and a hoody top and the second male was wearing a black balaclava which looked to be home-made.

The culprits left the scene with a watch from one of the staff members, fleeing in a dark coloured car.

Local gardaí were alerted and recovered the car at Red Arches, Baldoyle.

Two men aged 22 and 23 were arrested nearby and are being detained at Coolock and Swords Garda stations.
