Two charged in connection with Gareth Hutch murder

Two people have now been charged in connection with the murder of Gareth Hutch, whose death has been linked to an ongoing gangland feud in Dublin.

The latest: 29-year-old Thomas Fox of Rutland Court, Dublin 1, is accused of possessing a firearm at the scene the day before he was shot.

Judge Anthony Halpin described the ongoing feud between two gangland families as “cold-blooded”.

He said you would have to be living on Mars to escape the daily reportage of the war raging between them and the mounting victims that have been a product of their business.

It is believed Gareth Hutch, a nephew of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch, was victim number seven.

He was shot dead while getting into his car outside his home at Avondale House on North Cumberland Street in Dublin’s north inner city.

Thomas Fox, who was refused bail this afternoon, is accused of having a 9mm handgun at that location on May 23 – the day before the shooting.

Yesterday, 44-year-old Mary McDonnell – who lives at Avondale House, appeared in court charged with withholding information.

Both have been remanded in custody and are due back in court next week.
