Gardaí have arrested two people following the discovery of an improvised device in Tallaght in Dublin last night.

Gardaí have arrested two people following the discovery of an improvised device in Tallaght in Dublin last night.

A man and a woman in their early 20s were arrested after Gardaí investigating criminal activity stopped a car on Killininny Road, at a 10.15pm last night.

As they attempted to stop the car, an object, which appeared to be an improvised device, was thrown from the vehicle.

An army bomb disposal team was called and the device was made safe at 11.30pm.

The man and woman are being detained at Crumlin and Sundrive garda stations under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.
