Two men have been arrested in connection with a fire at a house overnight in Limerick city.

The blaze, which broke out at 2am, caused extensive damage to the property on South Circular Road.

No one was in the house at the time and gardaí are now carrying out a technical examination to establish whether it was started deliberately.

Two men aged in their late teens were arrested close to the scene shortly after the fire started and are being questioned at Roxoboro Road Garda Station.
