Two arrested as Customs seize 31,000 cigarettes

Customs officers have recovered 31,000 cigarettes with a value of €11,500 at Dublin Port today.

Customs officers have recovered 31,000 cigarettes with a value of €11,500 at Dublin Port today.

Two Romanian men, aged 19 and 36, have been arrested.

They were recovered when customs officers searched a bus after it disembarked from a car-ferry at Dublin Port.

Customs found the cigarettes in luggage and hidden behind a panel on the bus.

The bus has also been detained.

A statement from Revenue says the 36-year-old man has appeared in court and another is also due before the courts.
