Two arrested after windows smashed, cords pulled on Dublin-bound train

Two people have been arrested in connection with an incident on Irish Rail this morning.

A train was stopped after trouble broke out on the 5.40am Longford-to-Dublin service.

Gardaí at Leixlip were called when a number of people started smashing windows and pulling the emergency cords.

"A group of three individuals started vandalising the train, pulling the emergency cords and smashing windows on board the train," Irish Rail's Barry Kenny said.

"This immobilised the train just outside Leixlip and we called the gardaí. The people involved got off the train and fled up the track with the gardaí in pursuit."
