Turn-out low so far in referendum vote

Voter turn-out is reported to be relatively low so far, at around 4%, in the Children's Referendum.

However, polling stations are open until 10pm tonight, so it is expected there may be a surge in people casting their votes later this evening.

The Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore is encouraging everyone to have their say.

He has reminded voters to bring a form of photo identification with them when going to vote - such as a passport, drivers licence, bus pass or student id card.
