The trial date has been set for two former Anglo executives over an alleged fraudulent loan of over €8m.

Former finance director William McAteer, from Greenrath, Tipperary Road, Tipperary, who is 64, is accused of fraudulently obtaining a loan from Anglo Irish Bank to pay off a personal loan with Bank of Ireland in September 2008.

Pat Whelan, aged 53, from Coast Road, Malahide in Dublin, former director of lending at Anglo, is accused of being a party to the same loan.

The four-week trial is set to start on January 16, 2017.

The case has been listed for mention on July 18, 2016.
