Three men due in court after high-speed chase in Ennis

Three men in their late teens are expected before a court in Co Clare today following a high-speed chase last night in which a garda patrol car was written off.

Three men in their late teens are expected before a court in Co Clare today following a high-speed chase last night in which a garda patrol car was written off.

The gardaí began pursuing the car in Ennis shortly before 7pm after receiving reports that the occupants had stolen mobile phones from a local shop.

The car, which is believed to have been stolen, was driven at high speed down one way streets in the town, damaging a number of other vehicles.

However, nobody was injured during the incident.

Gardaí eventually stopped the car on the outskirts of Ennis and detained three men.
