One person is in a serious condition and two others are being treated in hospital after a crash on the M8 in Cork this afternoon.

One person is in a serious condition and two others are being treated in hospital after a crash on the M8 in Cork this afternoon.

The crash happened on the northbound carriageway of M8 Cork to Dublin Road between J14 Fermoy North and J13 Mitchelstown South at around 12.10pm.

The two passengers and driver were taken to Cork University Hospital where one person is in a serious condition.

The M8 was closed for a time this evening as a result of the collision but has since reopened.
